Janice: erms i think cip should be voluntary cuz cip is supposed to be out of your own heart and if its made compulsory the meaning of cip just isnt thr anymore, and if it isnt thrs no point for doing cip anymore... so yeah =)

yx: CIP of course is a voluntary work, but there is a need to make it compulsory in Primary school. That's to give the kids more exposure to these sort of community work before they decide whether they wanna do it or not, or whether it's part of their responsibility to give back to the society. Moreover, values are better to be inculcated in peopl when they're young. Making CIP compulsory in pri sch is a way to educate them earlier why they should give back. It's like brainwashing them, but in a good sense la. As for sec sch, it's a very good period to make it voluntary. because that's where kids turn teengaers, when some really begins to show concern for society. Through that we can see who are the sincere, truly wanting to help the society ones.
